Engage in year-round opportunities
Participate with no set meetings and flexible involvement
Collaborate directly with the Executive Director and Board of Directors as needs arise

Assisting with legal review and contract support
Supporting basic accounting and financial organization

Participate in a program running approximately May–October (weather dependent)
Join the BWW volunteer roster and receive project updates as they are scheduled
Work on projects across private property and parks/open spaces

Apply to have barbed wire removed – our team will contact you to discuss the project

Meet quarterly
Gather at either a volunteer’s home or the Barn at Timbervale in central Evergreen
Share potluck-style meals or snacks
Explore a variety of topics (examples: book, film, guest speaker, or discussion)
Engage in deeper, action-based advocacy, if interested
Support spring and fall social media campaigns (April & September)
Get involved by:
Attending quarterly gatherings
Helping plan upcoming meetings and topics
Hosting a future Bear Den gathering
Assisting with social media content creation
Editing and updating website content

Discovering relevant podcasts and new learning opportunities to share

Wildlife-Vehicle Collision (WVC) Reduction Initiative
Help reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions and improve habitat connectivity through research, education, and community engagement.
Engage in meetings as needed and flexible, project-based involvement
Maintain shared resources including reports, studies, and data
Lead two annual awareness campaigns (June & November)
Plan 1–2 public events each year
Core Team – Get involved by:
Creating content for seasonal safety and awareness campaigns
Assisting with website updates and development
Monitoring and contributing to social media related to WVCs
Analyzing data (crash reports, roadkill reports, trends) and creating reports, charts, and visuals
Writing short articles for newsletters and publications
Organizing and maintaining shared program resources (Google Drive)

Wild Eyes (Driver Awareness & Innovation)
Focus on increasing driver awareness through partnerships, technology, and education.Engage in project-based involvement and meetings as needed

Researching wildlife-safe driving programs and emerging technologies (e.g., simulators, VR)
Collaborating with partner organizations (law enforcement, CDOT, schools, etc.)

Maintaining project resources and files
Field Studies (Wildlife Monitoring & Data Collection)
Support on-the-ground research and documentation of wildlife movement and behavior.Work primarily independently, with flexibility

Capturing wildlife photos and videos
Managing and reviewing field camera footage
Tracking wildlife patterns and movement
Researching local elk herds and behavior
Creating visuals, data summaries, and insights from collected information
Brainstorming ways to engage the public in wildlife tracking efforts
Yard Signs (Community Awareness)
Expand public awareness through visible, community-based messaging.Get involved by:
Distributing and installing yard signs
Supporting outreach at farmers markets and community events
Engaging the public in conversations about wildlife-safe driving

Support the recruitment, engagement, and appreciation of Wild Aware volunteers
Meet once a month, with additional opportunities as needed
Get involved by:
Connecting with and responding to new volunteer inquiries
Helping onboard and guide new volunteers
Assisting with organization and tracking of volunteer information
Participating in and hosting volunteer coffees and gatherings
Planning and carrying out Volunteer Appreciation Week and recognition efforts
Supporting appreciation gifts and initiatives
Brainstorming ideas to strengthen volunteer engagement and retention

Help protect elk and support safe, respectful wildlife viewing during critical seasonal periods at Evergreen Lake.
Engage in two seasonal programs:
Spring: Mid-May through late June
Fall: Mid-September through late October
Receive training before each season to feel confident and prepared
Sign up for weekend shifts (Friday evening through Sunday)
Connect with experienced volunteers for optional one-on-one mentorship if you’re new

Monitoring and engaging with the public during Wildlife Watch shifts at Evergreen Lake
Sharing wildlife safety messaging and supporting positive human-wildlife interactions
