Wild Aware Programs

Program is conducted approximately May through October and is weather-dependent
Volunteers are placed on a roster to be contacted whenever jobs are scheduled
We have two program for barbed wire removals: private property and parks/open spaces
Property owners may apply to have barbed wire removed from their property and will be placed on list to be contacted when volunteers are available
Tasks available include:Being available to work at barbed wire removal events when date and location are announced
Training to become a Crew Leader
Assisting team leaders in marketing and logistics

Meets quarterly
Location is a volunteer’s home
Pot luck dinner is served
Program changes with each meeting-can be book, film, speaker or other
An action-based team is available for those who wish to delve into activism
Organizing spring and fall social media campaigns-April and September
Tasks available include:
Attending meetings
Helping with planning upcoming meetings
Hosting a meeting
Helping with content creation for social media
Editing and updating website page

General program encompassing the ways humans can coexist peacefully with wildlife

Organizing Google Drive for LWW resources

Meets 2x per year
Maintains a Google Drive with reports, studies, slides and more
Designs two campaigns each year in June and November for social media
Plans one to two public events per year
Tasks available include:
Edit and update the Road Aware Google Drive
Distribute “watch for wildlife” yard signs
Create content for spring and fall campaigns regarding driving safety and wildlife-vehicle collision mitigation
Assist with edits and updates for the Road Aware website pages
Help monitor social media for wildlife-vehicle collision posts

Has two seasons: Spring season begins the 3rd Friday of May, ending the 4th Sunday in June; Fall season is the 3rd Friday in September until the 4th Sunday in October.
There is a training before each season
After training, volunteers sign up for shrifts that include Friday evening through the weekend.
New volunteers as asked to work with a mentor
Signups are through Signup Genius
Tasks available include:
Work one or more shifts at Evergreen Lake
Assist with marketing of program through posts, collecting photos, creating flyers, writing content
Edit and update website page for Wildlife Watch

Creating a curriculum for one-time presentations to elementary-age children
Presenting the curriculum in schools
Responding to requests for specific topics in schools

Coordinating events with participants, venue and volunteers

Tasks available include:
Researching possible programs and speakers
Maintaining contact with program participants for organization and planning purposes
Assisting marketing in creating promotional materials
Coordinating social media posts
Reserving venue
Organizing refreshments

Meets as needed on field trips
Maintains trail cameras, collects cards, enters data from cameras
Maintains a Google Drive database for sightings
Assists in creating and promoting a citizen scientist data project.
Assists in aggregating data from public entities
Coordinates as needed with various agencies (Jeffco, CDOT, DPW, etc.)
Tasks available include:Edit and update the Field Studies Google Drive
Maintain trail cameras
Report on Highway 74 infrastructure (fences, escape ramps, culverts)
Help expand data collection efforts in the Evergreen area

Mission: Speak for wildlife at every level of decision making in local, county and state government
The Government Engagement team meets on an as-needed basis which is dependent on opportunities to meet with officials to offer alternatives, present information, or otherwise discuss wildlife coexistence in the county and state.
Available tasks include:
Attending state, county and local meetings which may include topics of discussion regarding wildlife (some meetings are regularly scheduled and others are specific to an issue).Conducting and organizing research on wildlife ordinances in other municipalities, counties and states.
Monitoring county and state commission meeting agendas and minutes to identify upcoming changes or issues that affect wildlife in our area
Assisting with creating website content, social media posts or publicity pieces
The GE team’s work may overlap with Road Aware, Barbed Wire Warriors, and Living with WIldlife programs. As well, there may be collaboration with the marketing, graphic design, website, social media and volunteer teams.
Opportunities to meet government officials may occur.

Grants Tasks Include:
Researching appropriate grant opportunities for Wild Aware
Contacting Wild Aware team leaders & program managers to solicit grant needs they might have
Organizing data that is needed for grant applications to include volunteer bios, financial reports, information about the history, mission & programs of Wild Aware
Maintaining the grant tracker spreadsheet
Writing/organizing grant applications
Communicating opportunities with leadership to determine if grant is appropriate at that time
Fundraising tasks include:
Identifying potential fundraising opportunities & ideas
Collaborating with events team to plan events or programs
Working with the Wild Aware Board of Directors to prioritize plans & build list of projects that need funding
Working with graphic designers, social media planners, & marketing teams to promote events
Create & update list of donors & sponsors

Promoting and publicizing Wild Aware events and programs

Developing relationships with media groups

Website:Promoting and publicizing Wild Aware via our website
Keeping the website current
Knowledgeable about current trends with wildlife websites
Research and write copy as needed. Experience writing is a plus
Familiar with Squarespace a plus, or fast learner, willing to learn
Ability to meet deadlines

Analyzing Metrics
Keeping an eye on other wildlife websites for ideas
Managing interns with website design
Working with program managers and team leaders to develop website updates to support their programs
Graphic Design:Experience with Canva is required
Experience with Squarespace is a plus, or must be willing to learn
Fairly high level of graphic design experience
